MEET THE TRAINER
Nisa Semione, M.S., CDBC, is a certified trainer and dog behavior consultant, and the founder of Naturally Canine Behavior & Training. Animals have been a constant presence in her life, but her professional journey began in 2014 when she started fostering for her local shelter and rescues. In 2015, she joined her local animal shelter staff, where she became deeply enthralled with canine behavior and development.
Nisa studied animal behavior topics at the University of Texas at Austin while earning her BA in Anthropology. In 2018 she began her career as a professional dog trainer and dog behavior consultant in her home state of New York. She served clientele in Manhattan and the greater New York metro area and developed a strong skill set for problem solving behavior solutions in challenging environments. She went on to found Naturally Canine Behavior & Training in 2021 after relocating to Houston, Texas.
In 2024, Nisa earned her Master of Science degree in Applied Animal Behavior and Welfare from Virginia Tech. Her thesis research explored the effects of olfactory enrichment on shelter dog behavior. She has integrated her research findings and expertise in applied animal behavior and welfare into her daily work with clients. She recently relocated to the Boston metro area and is excited to support a new community of dog lovers.
Nisa is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC) through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and a Fear Free Certified Professional. She is a believer in lifelong learning and committed to continuing her education through the latest accredited articles, conferences, workshops, and volunteer opportunities. In her free time she can often be found in the woods with her two dogs.
